Balqis Al Rashed was born in Riyadh, Saudi and raised in Beirut for sixteen years where she graduated from the American University of Beirut with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Her prolific activity and online presence have led to her March Project Residency 2015 at Sharjah Art Foundation where she exhibited her first big scale installation "Once, we fell from the sky and landed in Babel". In July 2017, she was selected to be the first international artist in residence at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art.  Her work is playful and explorative. Her favorite themes are contrast and flow. She doesn’t claim she knows anything, in fact she knows nothing. In December 2018, her prolific Instagram account was shut down due to its expressive artistic nature. Balqis has been focused recently on the process of ritual making, magical thinking, and her personal demon-slayin.
